they're strange, but beyond that, they're the most continuously detailed dreams i ever have. i'm often working on a task that lasts a really long time and doesn't get interrupted until i wake up.

there were about 11 hours of them last night. in one of them, i was invited to hang out with some people from high school, and i wanted to make it seem like i wasn't super eager and was on my way somewhere anyway and would stop by (channelling high school mentality, it seems). i said, yeah i'll come by on my way to the airport, i'm flying to mexico to visit my brother. so we hung out for awhile before i had to "leave for mexico," and the people were saying how it was a long way, and that i'd have to fly over thailand, and other places in asia and africa that i can't recall. i realized that i hadn't thought of that, so i kind of muttered that i might see if i could go on a spontaneous trip somewhere closer. i considered ottawa, montreal, even somewhere i could take a day trip. i ended up in chicago, trying to figure out what neighbourhood i wanted to explore before taking a flight back out. i wonder what airline makes you fly across asia and africa to get to mexico from canada? going to try to avoid that one unless the price is really right. (my brother also does not live in mexico; he lives in my city.)

i walked into the kitchen of the house i lived in for 17 years and always seem to dream of when i dream of being at home. my aunt, my mom's friend, and my late bubby were all standing around the table. someone (it was unclear who) said, "cats like boston [the band]." apparently they'd played the self-titled album for the big fluffy black cat that was sitting on a chair at the table. i looked at the cat and sang "more than a feeling..." and it looked pretty unimpressed. "that's not enthusiastic enough," the same someone said. so i tried again, with more energy: "more than a feeeeeeelinnnnnng" while moving my body a bit, and the cat meowed/sang the next line back to me. i sang back "when i don't know the words of this song," and the cat looked much more excited.
