i wonder if anyone here uses this, and how they like it if they do. i've never felt at home on social_media. facebook crushed my soul. ello broke my heart. there are some beautiful things on instagram if you know where to look, but every person i've ever complimented or tried to connect with there has ignored me. this feels a little different. you see what you want to see, say what you want to say, and let the potato chips fall where they may. someone once said that "the people are the algorithm" on mastodon. that's the sort of thing i can get behind. i've been poking at it a little. i've seen some stunning photographs and walked around inside the minds of a fistful of fascinating people. i've shared a few poems and pictures of my own. i'm not sure i have the energy to stick with it long-term, but i think it's been a worthwhile experiment. it's nice to have an experience with a platform that hasn't left me feeling nauseous or depressed for a change. it also isn't owned by a soulless billionaire. so, you know, it's got that going for it too. i even had a dream about a mastodon server a few nights ago. it was called galaxy.flock. alas, no one flocked there. it was empty.

I used it for a little while, but have pretty much let my account go dormant. I prefer Bluesky for now, although I haven't been spending much time there either of late. I tend to get my news from there. There are a lot of funny people worth following. They help make this otherwise world of shite a little easier to bear.
