humility is a lesson newly learned each day the scrutiny of strangers comes with the territory, I guess but at what point will people just leave me the hell alone and realize that I'm capable of doing my job without constant supervision and that one more piece of advice or criticism might just send me into a mop-swinging rage if you want your floor cleaned to perfection, don't hire a maid.

humility is a lesson we all should learn. everyone should be able to look at a task and objectivly be able to say "hey, i cant do this." but alas, for in our culture you arnt strong unless you can do everything on your own, with no help from anyone.

Soemtimes, i am aided more by hubris than humility. Strange though that may seem.

I'm sick of this flawed character fad. I'm sick of the accepted atmosphere in which wretchedness of personality is equated with depth thereof. Is nobility of character just a myth? Did it ever really exist outside of fiction and "historic license"?

it existed, but was never as widespread as the history books and mythologies might make it seem. everyone contains varying percentages of saint and scoundrel and it really does depend on the time and the frame of reference which of those is highlighted by other people's recollections. For example, if i give a vagrant a five-dollar bill, an observer, based on their principlesmay see that in one of at least three ways 1) I did a good deed by giving that man enough to at least get a quick bite to eat and at least momentarily alleviate his suffering 2) I did a bad thing by encouraging his laziness and/or addictions 3) that was nice, but i'm not impressed, after al, what will he do tomorrow? As for my hubris, i would say, well, at least i did something for the guy, and then i would indulge in a moment of feeling inwardly superior to both the critic and the beneficiary of my gesture

went to a new jazz jam today and started talking to the amazing drummer, asking if he was in school for jazz. he responded that he and his friend, the saxophonist, were still in high school.
