maybe i'm in a better mood this winter cause i'm not frozen down to my bones i feel like an abandoned soldier in an unwinnable war. but my strategic location is perfect for survival. mantra of the moment: spring will be here before you know it

the woman who lives downstairs must keep her heat cranked, i've yet to turn mine on this winter (base line temp in my kitchen, when i'm not baking, is about 20 degrees celsius)--and good thing too because it's really expensive in this building. my new place (3 weeks and counting) has free heat.

it was definitely a must when i was looking for a new place over the summer. most of the apartments on the east side have it, but the old houses are so drafty and poorly insulated that it costs several hundred dollars a month to heat one floor of a duplex. i was tired of keeping the furnace on 64 and the actually temperature being around 54 in my house. i never even knew they made shrink wrap for windows to try to keep the heat in until i moved here. bbbrrrrr
