I've had the same one for ten, almost eleven years. Without me knowing about it, my mother went to scour local stores for a new one. I'd mentioned that I wanted a more formal-looking one, a grey one, that went down to my knees. And lo and behold, she found one on sale for about $75, so she took me to try it on and bought it. I don't know if I could find something that warm and according-to-specifications (rather more tan than grey, but otherwise perfect) on sale. Value Village is great for clothes, but it's rather more haphazard for footwear and winter things (though last year I got my still-good winter boots there). So here's to Mom, may she live long and prosper. Star Trek thing with fingers. People are usually nicer than me, I find, and I feel humbled.

Oh oh, and she put it aside so that she can wrap it as a Christmas present. People are so weird. Other people are weirder AND nicer than me in a lot of ways - I should take that as inspiration!

i got yet another one, as if i didn't already have enough to clothe a small army during frigid temperatures. it wasn't at all planned. the volunteer at the may court said the rack i was browsing was 75% off. how could i resist a brown knee-length faux fur with brocade military buttons for $15 when it fit my frame?
