This is what I get for updating the artisan club's mailing list last night while listening to Cross-Country Checkup on the radio: funny dream_dialogue. My eyes nearly closed on their coverage of the Canadian election debate, but then I woke up enough in bed to make a list of to-do things I'd neglected or pushed aside. So, double listing, background politicking, and then, dreamworld. I'm at some social event put on by the theatre group. For some reason, we're compelled to talk about voting, and most people there are voting Liberal. A few NDP, including me (though not in real_life this time). Anyway, a loudmouthed man, who doesn't seem to correspond to a real-world person, stands beside a chalkboard to argue, "The only people who vote NDP are rioting radicals and boring people who make lists!"

Was it "write lists" or "make lists"? Do I forget? Yes, but I forget multitudes. Onward.

reading this made me laugh. if being rioting radicals and making lists are the worst that can be said about us, we're doing: 1. pretty well. 2. some sweet list-making. 3. potato. (lists don't have to be boring!)

in some of the lowest and loudest moments of my life, list making has helped to quiet the noise inside my head. i still have almost every list i've ever written stashed away somewhere (because you_are_the_things_you_don't_throw_away). they touch on: - bands i thought might be worth investigating based on what i read about them (most of these were written long before i had a computer or regular internet access) - instruments and recording equipment i thought i needed (some of which i ended up getting, and some of which i'm glad i didn't get) - books to buy - potential album and song titles - people to send music via snail mail - people to stop sending music via snail mail - movies to watch - guitar serial numbers (in case one was ever stolen) - award-worthy dreams the_rest_includes_more.
