epitome of incomprehensibility
|
Something gja wrote reminded me of overhearing/overreading people debate a topic, but when I started writing about it I saw it wasn't relevant to the larger point... And I don't really know what word to file this under. It's more like "debate that could be had but what's wrong with us that we use this as a typical high-school-or-college casual conversation topic" and that's too long. The question went, "Which is worse, rape or murder?" I thought right off "obviously murder" but later "well, I still think murder is worse but I can see how rape is more unfair, if that's the question, because everybody dies but no one has to be forced violently into sex, and it seems especially cruel to create terror out of what people should enjoy." And then, LATER later, realizing how it feels callous to set this as a thought exercise. I mean, some of my best new boyfriends are philosophers, but still.
