that's cool that you put the two together. you have always been one to point out vital indie music to both blue and red. the particular record from duluth artists low, especially the songs, sunflower, and in metal, were especailly inspirational to the writing of neues_leben. i was pleasantly surprised to hear a few of the tracks made it on the film soundtrack of tarnation. a_film_you_should_see. their just released, the great destroyer, is much different than their previous brooding, reverb-drenched, sadcore style. i'm used to hearing them play as quietly and slowly as possible but this new stuff is a fascinating change for the three piece band. in the words of lead singer alan sparhawk, "here's your stinkin' rock record." check out a video of alan's daughter, hollis mae autographing the new cd. it's very cool: www.chairkickers.com/news.html

i remember the poetry that was written and read in ethan hawke's film, chelsea walls, was what first motivated me to use the term, "the insufferable hunger of the damned," in affame le geant, a fyn_gula story on blue. the term refers to the title of a book that audrey's, (played by the very gorgeous rosario dawson), journalist boyfriend is writing. the scene in which they are reciting poems they have scribed to each other is heartbreakingly beautiful. they craftily reflect the inseparable and unshakable qualities of young love. chelsea walls is a_film_you_should_see. however, i plucked the term out of context to apply it in a completely different way. it became the name of a group of radicals led by cayris foxglove, half wolf, half man, who used malicious violence and pillaging crime to further their cause of self-debasement. it was the wise birdmad who first recognized the term had been pulled out of another resource other than the film when it appeared in affame le geant back in february of 2oo3. also, thanks, monadh, for your compliments.
