sprouting up at the sides
of my face when i was
still a child,
faint as forgery,
showing me the man i'd be.

she walked her palms across
my cheeks and said,
"that's the wolf in you,
coming out where everyone can see."

now that they're everywhere,

i only admire the light,
knowing there's so little
