epitome of incomprehensibility

I signed up for Quora to get the French digest, but sometimes I get pulled into the English side. A time sink, usually, but this time I escaped after not too long, after reading a satisfying story. Very simple: a mean group of teens convince a bullied boy to ask the "most popular and beautiful girl in school" to a dance. Their intention was to prank him by building up his hopes and then having her reject him. Instead she accepts. There's no indication as to the where and when. It's probably vague because it's made up, a fiction attached to a photo. Yes, attached is a photo of a thin long-legged girl with a plump smiling boy, but she's in casual shoes and clothes. Holding flowers, okay, but who lifted this picture from someone's collection and spun this story about it? Isn't that inventor just a teensy bit mean to assume fat = unpopular?? To fanfiction real people into idealistic cheap-uplift fantasy??? Regardless, the ending scratches an itch. Apparently I want to read about someone doing the right thing rebelliously, about someone being creative and unexpected. Maybe this could be something I write about. Not this story but with something catching the spirit of what makes this satisfying. In more than just a paragraph and without that blasted phrase "A Picture is Worth 1000 Words" underneath.
