raze when her husband built what would become their home, he didn't do it alone. his friends and family chipped in. everyone had a bit of wisdom to impart. a brother knew about plumbing. a cousin knew about wiring. they pooled their resources and pressed their hearts together, and out of love and ingenuity they forged a house that held four generations in its hull. each time a child was born, they added another room. the beams we've raised had no crane or winch to guide them into place. only the force of a shared core and all the heat it saw fit to generate, strong enough to turn metal to broth and fists to feathers. our arms are flesh-covered pinions, and when we fly, we soar. 220206
