feathers
raze i can't remember exactly what he said. but the story went something like this. a young man was told by his mentor to cut open the pillow that held his head while he slept and leave a feather at the doorstep of every home in his village. when he was finished, he made his way back to the man he admired most. "retrace your steps," he told him. "gather every feather and bring them back to me." he tried. he failed. "each feather is a word you wield," the man told him. "once it leaves your lips, you can never have it back again. it moves wherever the wind takes it." they stood and watched a thousand sentences swirl around them, craning their necks to hear the last of what they had to say until they were all part of the same sad sigh. 230212
