unhinged i wore a vintage slip/dress last week to work and one of my students said

'i like your dress. you look like an angel.'

she's six. my heart melted into a puddle on the floor right then and there.

unhinged i wear my emotions on my face; the vulnerability of an open_heart i suppose. last week we were still fighting. last week i was still crying in public. last week my foot and my heart were still trembling uncontrollably.

kale looked at me and said 'you look like you just played in a championship football game'

when i asked him what he meant he just said 'i don't know' and giggled. but i knew what he meant. i felt like i had been fighting an epic battle and lost.

i laughed truly all the same. the insight and honesty of children brings me relief from all the bullshit adults fling at each other.

no reason those who have the ability to melt my heart also have the strongest capability to harden it

it's getting harder and harder. i'm not strong enough for this except that i have to be.

no reason unhinged: i agree. being with kids always softens me a bit. maybe working with them often would soften me more than a bit. 100817
