She would kind of 'sing-song' it. It sounded somewhere between heartfelt and a dig. It had an impact of some kind.. Now when some person does something for me that makes a legitimate difference or even something as simple as letting me thru in a crosswalk, I am always certain to say/yell, "I appreciate YOU!" (clearly I 'sing-song' it) Not sure if this resonates as a gouge or a compliment ... But I guess it doesn't matter.
