flirting
raze is this what we're doing when we run into one another? i've never been too sure about the dividing line between flirting and small talk. it seems to always be readjusting itself at will.

she used to be the girlfriend of that guy who would never shut up. once, he was over here. he'd been talking for hours. it was getting late. i told him i had a long-distance girlfriend i didn't get to see often and i needed to call her to say goodnight before she went to bed. it was the truth.

"oh, no problem," he said. "i'll get out of your hair."

an hour later, he was still talking. he was still in my hair. my hair was ready to molt so it could be rid of him.

in all that time i didn't hear her say a word. he never closed his mouth long enough for her to speak. she didn't even get enough time to grunt a greeting. was it like that when they were at home? was she ever allowed to talk?

as soon as they broke up and he wasn't around to suck up all the air anymore, she started talking. it was a bit of a shock at first. i learned she has a great personality. she has a great smile, now that she gets to use it. she's more adept than most at jousting silliness.

i don't know if flirting is what we're doing, but it's fun, whenever it happens, whatever it is, even if it never leads to anything else.

just some advice if you want it to turn into something, you should try to make it into something 130919

raze sometimes i think i should have. she lives more than two thousand miles away now, north of the cliffs of miles canyon, married to a man with a beard as wild as mine. maybe in_another_life that could have been me. 231018
