all_existing_red_blathes
pralines&cream blather.newdream.net/red/a

for all blathes beginning with "a"

blather.newdream.net/red/b

for all blathes beginning with "b"
and so on...

This works for blue blather as well, as long as you take out the "/red" in the url. Wow. Many of you may know about this, but i just discovered it today.

silentbob i did know this.

i also noticed, however, sometimes it doesn't work. it will sometimes just go to a random word beginning with that letter.

i think H was the letter i tried.

pralines&cream Hmmm, very strange. I discovered that on red, H is the only letter that does that. On blue, H and I.

I am currently attempting to figure this out.

pralines&cream H goes to home
I goes to index

but why????

argh

birdmad those words act as command triggers of a sort,,,the other one on blue that does this is "default"
so long as no one blathes this word on red the "index of ...red/d" should remain intact

lulie This works with all addy's, especially those long ones with a lot of slashes. Just swipe off after the slash and see where you end up. 020403

e_o_i Ah! Interesting (replies e_o_i 20 years later).

Browsing the a-list with breakfast.

Now I see, more than I did before, why complete_index_of_h was made.

raze for years it mystified me that we could see the i and d indexes here but not on blue. it took me a long time to figure out why. meanwhile, some 'skites had already solved the mystery twenty years ago! turns out the m index is also inaccessible on blue (it redirects to the "main" blathe). i've never understood why this happens. it must be a quirk of blather's architecture.

when there's a catastrophic blather_crash, those connections are broken, and what's normally buried bubbles up out of the blue_and_red earth for an hour or two. i think that was how user_24 was able to compile blathes to stand in for some of those hidden lists in the long-ago times. there are also the ancient index_of_d and index_of_i blathes he made, in case those avenues were ever lost to us.

we haven't had any serious technical hiccups in a while now (knock on laptop screen), so i had to comb through twenty_one years of red blathes one day at a time to track down everything that started with the letter h. i might have missed a few. but i think i caught most of them.

it's a lot easier now that the backbone is there. all i need to do is keep track of new h blathes as they're created and add them to the complete_index_of_h every month or two. i like waiting until there's a batch of twenty, for whatever reason.

i've always done most of my navigating through the "recent" and "who" pages, but i know some people prefer to take an index (or indexx)-based approach to exploring blather. i hoped it might be useful to have an easy way to see all the h blathes in one place. as long as no one creates blathes for those *other* magic words, we'll always be able to see a list of everything else that's here.

fingers crossed...
