take it as it comes."

that's simply all she said.

and they listened and learned as though their lives depended upon those heartfelt words.

...
lostgirl the thunder shakes my world awake with multiple explosive shoves, screaming, "wake up sister, and pay attention!" my eyes fly open and i glance at the clock to see it is only 6:56. opening the room darkening curtain, i gaze out the window to see that the ocean is just as angry as the sky. in stark contrast to the customary collective gentle blue, the marine beauty is now cloaked in slate, a judgmental mimicry of the gloomy sky. with not a soul to be seen on the empty sand, the wind whips though the dunes, ordering the sea oats to comply. even the pelicans, who show their talents many times each day making their pass through the sky in a V or a straight line, now fly above the churning surf in a chaotic untidy formation. lightning tears the dark morning sky to ribbons with cloud to water streaks of pink. i observe the show in front of me in quiet detached meditation as the clouds open up and mother nature lets her tears fall strong and hard.

suddenly she shouts to me, struggling to make her voice heard over her own creative body language. "don't worry, your beloved sun will be allowed to see you again." engaged, now open mouthed in awe, i continue to regard her carefully as she bellows on. "even i, like you, become stressed out and need a hefty 'shit fit' followed by a good, healthy cry from time to time. you see, it's good to let the pressure release....and also good to cry, to simply let the sadness drain out. just watch, everything will be okay soon."
