if you look up you'll see me moon bound - beyond powers of ten or other powers nature holds tightly coiled in silver wires, which, soundless twist around your wrists & leave bold marks. hear this, you undefeated silver soul - the wind blows straight & strong, thought death-cold to touch. are you convinced by this to spend your years to spread the news of passing doom without reminding ears of the coming of the end? you will know this - when light holds rooms aglow with dropsy fingers, when shining silver presses into resting love's cocoon, i'll lay upon the slithering scales of time resounding thoughts from passing aching tires, bumping over earthly stones as rickety silver dimes when silver greens & rusts, it lives on again, oblivious to Death or scales or love-- that they are ever spoons, ever vampires jumping from corner to wall, feathers above shining clams like shoulders made of magnifying glass flinching, then ceasing more to move. your heart still stumbles into past for memories dark & twisting silver sliding over its own forgotten carcass onto mine, halfway now to jealous Jupiter's immortal bearings. you'll pass on news until ears pound like hearts themselves, arriving from the atmosphere & only then you glance to passing silver skies.

he referenced caribou in his not-so-fictitious narrative. the couple bonded over the underwater stereo-channel switching dream vocals of dan snaith. the male protagonist looked back on their relationship and love of that track with a sense of premonition: "we never knew it was a break-up song," he said. a detail like that, about a song we played during our wedding reception, is what slices me to the core: not once did i ever think in our beginning, in all the good years we shared, that we would ever end.
