she was kathleen_edwards in my dream. but she was herself too. she walked across empty shopping bags with her wife and made firecracker sounds on the hardwood floor of the home they shared. the third track on her new album was a twelve-minute three-song suite. she played most of the instruments herself. the song that stuck with me was this pretty little waltz driven by the spectral murmurs of an omnichord. "save him from the cold blue majesty," she sang, with an irish accent that sounded wrong but made perfect sense. she was just picking up a bit of the colour of the country she found love in.
