madonna sans nom i never knew she had canadian ancestors hahahahahahahaha! 040323 ... just some canehdian gal i'm still laughing. she's my tenth cousin on my father's side. i find that hilarious for some reason. our last common ancestors were MarieMartin&JeanCloutier in late 1600's New France. MarieMartin was the daughter of AbrahamMartin&his.wife.MargueriteLanglois. AbrahamMartin, the scot, (famous for his plains) was, at age 60, accused of 'forfeiting the honour' of a 16 year old girl in quebec (some say he raped her, but who knows for sure). i heard that the girl was later executed for thievery,...and that this was the first.public.execution (of a european) in quebec/canadian history. that part i do not find funny at all, rather tragic in fact, but interesting to know. also, MarieMartin's husband JeanCloutier was the son of ZacharieCloutier whom Camilla Parker Bowles is also descended from (making Camilla another tenthish cousin to madonna and i). weirdness. and i found out,... abraham's wife marguerite's sister FrancoiseLanglois was also my ancestor. FrancoisLanglois was the mother of HeleneDeportes (my ancestor) who was the first.female.of.european.origin to be born and live in Quebec. Helene's godparents were the Champlains, who were also friends of Abraham and other ancestors. i find now, that i'm twice descended from Helene, through two of her daughters,... making my connection to madonna even stronger through our LangloisFamily roots. it's a small world. it really is. i can remember singing along to "like a virgin" when i was about four and i really liked singing "you know that we are living, in a material world, and i am a material girl" . i thought she meant material as in fabric (my dad was doing reupolstery at the time). along with springsteen's "born in the usa" which i loved, those are the earliest pop songs i can remember singing. anyway, i don't think i'll be writing any "dear long lost cousin" letters to madonna or camilla. that would just be too funny. heck there's (like) 300years or so between us.
