raze i think my favourite might have been the chicken delight at the penalty box. no tomatoes. only because they usually weren't all that ripe, and if the sandwich sat for a while it had a tendency to get soggy.

then van niforos sold the place and it all went downhill in a hurry.

i've seen this same scene play out too many times now. someone who has no experience running a restaurant swoops in to buy a business that's been successful for years because of the reputation the existing owner has built behind great food, attentive service, and a unique atmosphere. all they have to do is keep things exactly as they are. and even though that would be the simpler, easier move to make, here's what happens instead:

they fire the entire staff who have been there forever. they change the menu completely, replacing high-quality ingredients with cheap trash. they throw a pornographic painting above the entrance so it's the first thing you see when you walk in the door. and then they wonder why they're bankrupt and forced to sell the building within a year.

you'd think people would learn at some point. they never do.
