I wonder if it shows that I care more if I leave him alone (respecting his need for space), or if I pursue contacting him. I figure if he wanted to talk, he knows where I am. He emailed me of free will. Doesn't that indicate wanting to talk? But then he doesn't come on irc, even when I know he's around. I guess my only real choice is to stop caring so much. It's fairly challenging.

Try this on for size: "I am the one who said I needed space (she now knows this was wise, but it was still my decision). She emailed me back because I emailed her first. Actually, she didn't respond to the email before that but it was pretty clear that I wasn't expecting a response. Besides, I talked to her after that. I'm sure she's on irc, and at home, and perfectly willing to talk. I just don't feel it's the right thing to do right now."

i could go on and on with this one. a million things pop into mind. maybe its because i know what he might be thinking at least in a simple sort of way. instead im simply going to leave off. here. not there. right here.
