excellent choice, cocoon... "good winter" recorded solo in a cabin in wisconsin... america's national public radio recently named it best record for 2008... there's a download available from "all songs considered live" of a show that bon iver did in washington d.c.

seven or eight high school students were working through a routine for what i guess was a dance class being held in the park, though there didn't seem to be a teacher around anywhere. maybe it wasn't a class at all. maybe they were just dancing for something to do. they were listening to something on one of their phones. i was expecting some piece of overproduced modern pop. i got closer and heard what it was. "for emma, forever ago". i sang along to "skinny love". they didn't hear me. it didn't matter. it made me smile. it was just enough, and almost too much.
