acknowledgments
epitome of incomprehensibility Ack_knowledge_mints with a serious face. I'm working on this end-note section of my poetry chapbook, which means poetry zine, which means a very short book.

But since this is going to be published, unlike my first chapbook, I feel like I need to put lots of thoughts into the thanks-ness. Thus the slowness beyond my usual slow.

And it's both selfish and un-. Selfish: "Look, I have friends and connections!" even if tenuous. Generous: sincere thanks to people; I want them to feel good about being helpful if they read it. Even if they never read the poems but only glance at the end page. Generous_but_stingy: I don't want to leave people out, but I don't want to take up too much space. So I refer to groups before naming particular people.

...

I put in a cryptic reference, apropos of writing groups, to "the blatherskites of blather." I wonder if the editors will accept this right away or hmm at it (like, "Hmm, who are you calling 'blatherskites'?") Either way, my grateful Knowledge Mints now: even if your name isn't in there, I appreciate you all. There's one person I *know* I showed some poems to, but it's blather as a whole I need to thank for things like the "And in Dreams" poem. And again, all blatherskites (in a nice way!) for their inspiration.
