who_runs_blather
Bizzar just curious? it's been around for so long and it's pretty amazing that it's still here after all this time.

is there a blatherskite that i can thank?

raze i know there are some blathes on blue that dig into the history, but in a nutshell, two college students named dallas and sage created blather in 1998. dallas dreamed it up and sage wrote the code. i don't think either one of them had any idea what it would grow into. red was built in 2001 (apparently because some 'skites didn't like what blue had become and wanted another place they could go).

sage hasn't had a thing to do with blather in probably close to twenty years. dallas never checks in anymore unless there's a technical hiccup that needs to be straightened out. but he's always been very responsive and quick to fix things when i've emailed him. and though it must cost him something to keep blather running, he seems content to let us do our thing here forever.

he stopped by last year on his birthday to look into some trouble we were having with line breaks (as seen on blather_loves_me). that still blows my mind. i don't think we could have asked for a better custodian of this still-evolving gift we've been given.

it's his birthday again on saturday. i don't think i could even begin to tell him what this place has meant to us. but i am to try.

Bizzar thank you, raze. i hope that dallas can just read even a handful of blathes to get a glimpse of what it means to us. 220727

insouciant They were nice enough to make the source code available. I appreciate that. 220727
