dB Metallica are bastards, especially Lars, who can't play drums for shit! (sorry, I'm a drummer, and I HATE someone who can abuse a great instument like that). Napster was causing no damage to any record company profits or losses to the artists (the proof is there), and it gave young talent a chance to share their stuff with the world. But that's all gone now. Why would Metallica do that anyway? I mean they ar worth so much money that it wouldn't make any difference to them if ALL their sales dropped off forever, they still have more than enough money to live comofrtably for the next 200 years. I don't get it. 010306

mikey the ironic thing is i can goto windowsmedia.com and download any mp3 i want yet Napster was more for getting mixes...live stuff..rare songs. and worse yet the public AND many many artists LOVE napster..yet it doesnt mean shit. what matters is big massively wealthy big heads somewhere are affraid they MIGHT lose a few record sales....which..sales have increased last few years...HMMMMMMMM 010306

namae You always knew it was illegal,
and then you screamed like hell when you got caught.
What's up with that? I mean, didn't you see it coming at all?

chiidi i just find it funny that a band who made their reputation on the live bootlegs made by their fans was the one who drove the nail in that coffin

especially since their newer material is 95% garbage anyway

guitar_freak I have to say something,I can't resist.
My opinion may be the unpopular one, but then again it always has been so it doesn't matter. Don't blame Metallica. It wasn't only them. There was a whole group of record companies and artists who were pissed off. They were on the front lines, but how can you put down someone for fighting for something they believe in just because you don't like it?
Maybe their motives were only more unneeded money, maybe not. It isn't important. I was pissed when Napster was shutdown, but there will always be tons of MP3 sites, so it doesn't matter. I may just be a pathetic metal head, but I just don't think it is so important as to who started all this and for what reason. things happen like this all the time so why be so concerned unless you are willing to do something about it. There is a difference between bitching about an inconvience and doing something about it.
