you laid your head on my lap and asked me how it felt to be a human pillow. i said it felt good. if i was honest, i would have said that it was the most frightening place i have been in a very long time.

"...Should B.C. escape the big one this time, the next window of higher earthquake risk will occur around April 2008. Rogers said seismologists haven't figured out why the ETS phenomenon happens every 14 months in the Pacific Northwest..."

"...Residents of southern British Columbia can breathe easier now that the window of increased probability in which a major earthquake could strike the region closed sooner than expected. Seismologists at the Pacific Geoscience Centre in Sidney, B.C. say the latest episode of subterranean tremors on Vancouver Island than began Jan. 26 has ended about a week earlier than usual. "The tremors stopped about 24 hours ago," Natural Resources Canada seismologist John Cassidy told CTV.ca Sunday morning in a phone interview from Sidney, B.C. This means the heightened risk that a magnitude 9.0 or higher earthquake could strike, accompanied by a tsunami equal to the size of and strength of what hit the Sumatra-Andaman Islands in 2004, has significantly weakened..."

a few days ago we had one about twenty miles away. i guess what made its way to us was the aftershock phase. as far as i know it's the first time i've experienced any part of an earthquake. our house shook for a few seconds. i thought the oven exploded, somehow, in the quietest way possible. but no. it was the last gasp of a little quake, with a lowly magnitude of 3.6.

fracking is taking over ohio ... maybe it was a residual earthquake caused by fracking seismologists say this area is due for a huge one, possible 9.0 or bigger. i have no idea what to do in an earthquake. sometimes when i get really high i start to get vaguely panicky about a damn earthquake...
