i can accept people being late, in these post-punctual times when almost no one is capable of ever showing up on time for anything, though past a certain point it stops seeming fashionable and starts to seem thoughtless. i can accept last-minute cancellations. things come up. life happens. what i can't accept is being stood up with no explanation, and having to poke the other person to even get them to acknowledge that they flaked out. especially now, when almost everyone lives on their phone every minute of every day, and it takes five seconds to fire off a quick text or facebook message saying you can't make it. what that says to me is, "i don't care enough to show up, and i don't care enough to let you know i'm not showing up." if you want to be my friend, you might want to not do that. because it isn't exactly endearing.

try to get together with two people, one of them taking it upon themselves to "coordinate" the get-together. get stood up or blown off by said coordinator repeatedly. give up on them and talk to the other person, scheduling a get-together for just the two of you, making clear your distaste for flakiness. have them express enthusiasm and understanding, assuring you they're not like that and everything will be much easier without the flaky coordinator. hammer down a day and time. confirm the day and time, just to be safe. get stood up by that person too. at a certain point, this shit transcends frustration and becomes brainless comedy.
