. one eye on the clock, counting down, then the other eye on a different clock, willing it to stop. in between the clock-watch, let your eyes flick distractedly off, wide and open and to the sky as bells ring and desks are slammed shut. all through class the big hand follows the little hand, all through home-time the eyes count down hours till the dawn, till the yawn in the morning, the uniform the train platform. try to forget the boundaries and the deadlines. inhale and breathe in repose. when you close the front door behind you on a weekend morning the garden is only the beginning, the shops beyond, the town further still, the city and then the ocean. if you leave now, you've got all weekend, if you call in sick, you've got all week, if you dont call at all, you dont ever have to go back
