epitome of incomprehensibility Bizarre_buy_nothing_finds in real_life: this evening, I was being a mediocre_samaritan by moving some books left in a throwaway pile along with broken furniture by the side of a road, and I found a mini Acer laptop with a charger.

"There's no way this works," I thought, and also, "But what's if it does? It would be a sort of reward."

Friends, I am typing on it right now! But it's quite slow starting or opening any applications.

The keys look like new, but other evidence points to it being old and little used: a sticker with "Aspire One" and some specs like 1 GB memory and 160 GB storage.

No password; it's been given the name "job," so evidently it was for someone's job. I snooped in the library: no saved files. Programs: standard Windows ones, plus an older ccleaner and a Chrome browser.

I wonder whether I should bring this with me to Arden since it's lighter? Or would I need things that are saved on my slow AND bulky laptop?

Fudge of budgeness, I wish I hadn't promised the hand of my never-used external hard drive in marriage. (I mean, I listed it for sale as part of the fundraiser for Leena - but that's another story.)

e_o_i Unclear modifier in 1st sentence: I didn't move any broken furniture. It was just there with the books and this little laptop tucked under a chair.

...Maybe it's from the future instead of the past because the clock was set to June 17, 2029. That caused an error message with blather at first - apparently it doesn't like time travelers.
