nr "so where's the grief coming from?" the kind stranger asked after reading the cards.

"i'm not sure. my mom passed away a couple of years ago, so it could be that," she replied. "and it hasn't been very linear."

the stranger nodded and asked how her relationship was with her dad.

"we're not super close, he's never been the hands-on parent," she said.

"so there no support or grieving with him?"

"maybe for a month at the beginning, but nothing since."

"so maybe you're grieving the loss of your mom, or the family system you were used to. regardless of what it is, i see everywhere here that it's bottled up. once you're able to release the grief, i see you feeling much freer and more able to do the things you really want to."

"so... how do you do that?" she asked, knowing that it wasn't really the stranger's job.

"feel your feelings," the stranger replied. "put one hand on your heart, the other on your diaphragm, and listen to what your body is telling you."

"you're intelligent, and your brain is so active that it has the ability to dull your body's needs."
