fade_out
raze here are a few of my favourite fades. "all you need is love". paul slipping the chorus for "she loves you" into the last place you'd expect him to. "broken loves" by the blue nile. such soulful wailing when the words run out. bruce cockburn's strat spitting sparks at the end of "night train". the second song hidden in the guts of "when you awake". even if we only ever get to hear a hint of it. gavin friday and jeff martin pulling off the same trick on "angel" and "this cloud we're on". everything self-immolating until only a few piano notes are left to stir the ashes. "get out of my house." the mumbling of a man become a mule in kate bush's basement. and almost every track on "flying cowboys", with rickie_lee_jones doing some of her most beautiful singing when she knows she's disappearing. come closer, she seems to say. i haven't left you yet. 260721

raze (oh man. how could i forget mr. knopfler? "why worry" is another one that kills me every time, though i gotta go with the cd version that really lets the instrumental outro stretch its legs.) 260721

warmthofrelease Maybe it's painfully obvious, maybe it's even a bit trite, and maybe I'm just overly self conscious about obnoxiously carrying a torch for Metallica since I was 10 years old, but Fade_to_Black really is about as singular of a feeling as there is in music. There is no comparison. 260811
