Christian Martyr You’re my Christian martyr With my Montreal phone number On your arm, no harm, Just try to remember I took off my shoes to pray On that January day. I’m living on the edge Here in the snows of Côte des Neiges. All the kids say Phobic means scared, I guess we’re losing The war on terror. I’m not afraid of You doing common time For surviving Like it’s a crime. Fans in Christchurch, your name on a gun. You think you’re righteous, look how far you’ve come, From the cross to the grave, From the page to the floor. You don’t need to make news Just to give me the blues When they do as you do Just next door. I’m not scared of anything that’s Next to a library. Piles of shoes in Pictures can’t harm me, They just make me cry because they Should be lined up neatly Like you saw in Quebec City. All the kids say Phobic means scared, I guess we’re losing The war on terror. Losing the programmers, Grocery store owner, Professor, pharmacist, Health insurance worker. Livestream my consciousness— That’s all you’ll ever get. 2017, Never forget It’s getting harder and harder To be a Christian martyr these days. It’s getting harder and harder To be a Christian martyr these days. But you’ve got my number, You can dial in your crusade. It’s getting harder and harder To be a Christian martyr. Harder and harder To be a Christian martyr. Harder and harder To be a Christian martyr these days. But you’ve got my number, You can dial in your crusade. It’s not my place to say I forgive. If I could choose, it’s they not you who’d live With the points of the stars In the lights blurred by rain Through the windows of cars Near the Crescent Street bars When what’s near and what’s far Looks the same. (in memory of Ibrahima Barry, Mamadou Tanou Barry, Khaled Belkacemi, Aboubaker Thabti, Abdelkrim Hassane, and Azzedine Soufiane)

It's been 5 years since the shooting, since six lives were taken (seven, counting the witness who died by suicide). And people say "that doesn't happen here" after it does. Is it unfair to segue to speaking against_Bill_21, against Islamophobia? No, Legault. Sure, barring people from jobs isn't murder, but saying that is like saying segregation isn't slavery. We're not playing politics with tragedy, because it's not "playing". It's not an English vs. French thing. It's about being fair.
