I don't know Rahim Ladha. That is, I was in touch with him years ago about a fund for writers and artists, but I've never met him. I just thought of him today because he emailed people about a fundraiser for his brother, who needs a transplant and help with day-to-day expenses. Link: https://www.viciousminuteshour.com/salim But I stayed a little longer to peruse the website and found this story about a dog and a mysterious squirrel (what_made_you_cry_today, part 2). The mysterious squirrel takes on a mythic resonance, and...gah, it's just beautiful storytelling. It seems kind of simple at first and then you get a sense of the world opening up, becoming deeper and richer and connecting to many dreams and memories. And the real-world connection: from the dedication, it seems to be based on someone's actual dog. So yes, below - https://www.viciousminuteshour.com/banana And I thought I'd put it here because, well, a) squirrels and b) Toronto. Relates to at least two other skites here!

oh, that got me good. honest to dogs, i was just thinking the other day, "i wish there were more stories about squirrels out there. books. movies. short_stories. brochures. youtube ads. anything." and e_o_i delivers. (it's a secret hope of mine to someday meet a white squirrel. i know they're rare around here, but there have been a few scattered sightings.)
