I was there! 13 years ago! It was history!!
But I only had a vague memory of it. The two students I was picketing a class with yesterday - both about age 20 - had a better idea of things.
I told them how I wasn't in Montreal for most of 2012, the big year of student strikes against tuition hikes, but I came to the meeting where the student union needed a certain quorum to vote on the idea of striking. This was in 2011, the last year of my first degree at Concordia.
"Wasn't it on Valentine's Day?" one asked.
I said, "I think it was later in the semester."
"It was outside, right?"
"Yes..." I tried to remember. "Yes, outside. Like on the terrace near Reggie's."
The shorter one with round glasses went, "Wasn't it called the Wintry Hot something?"

I just remember people marched around the block afterwards and said things like "Students! united! will never be defeated!" and "So-so-so-solidarite" (I can't do the accent aigu right now because it causes a server_error).
Anyway. I couldn't join in on all the chants because I was busy eating an apple.
