undisturbed
insouciant The pebble cracks the pristine, mirror-like, surface of the pond with barely a splash. The ripples it causes travel in a perfect circle outwards as I count the rings. There is something about the beauty of an undisturbed space I am compelled to break.

I stand back up from my crouch, satisfied that what was once a marvel is now, momentarily, marred by my hand. I continue to walk down the path around the pond.

I designed this place to be as perfect as a hallmark card. You might think to take someone here on a first date to share a romantic first kiss. An anniversary location complete with a rope-swing coaxing you into spontaneous skinny dipping. A place for children to slap their hands and toes in the water

But its for me. And to me it’s a safe space that i can destroy. A facade on top of an empty void. Sanctuary for my emotions to run wild.

I have walked here until my feet blistered. Run sprints until I passed out. Spent hours cutting down trees for no other reason to watch them fall. Exploded dynamite in the center of the lake. Burned down the entire surrounding forest after drying out the ground with the hot sun.

I love every minute of destroying this perfect nothing.
