raze surely this is the least floydian of all pink floyd albums. it's essentially a roger waters solo record, with the rest of the band treated as glorified session musicians and rick wright nowhere to be found. it's a bleak and sometimes turbulent ride, but it's difficult to deny the power of "one of the few", "your possible pasts", and "the gunner's dream".

there's a quiet moment in the middle of "the hero's return" that always gets to me:

"sweetheart, sweetheart, are you fast asleep? good. that's the only time that i can really speak to you. there is something that i've locked awaya memory that is too painful to withstand the light of day."

as haunted invocations go, you could do a lot worse.
