who sent your spirit when i was low? in the car last night a song of yours came on the radio, one i’d forgotten i had loved from years past, “prince johnny,” blessing me. with my hands on 10 and 2 i prayed to all to make me a real girl.

i listened to that album incessantly, as well as "strange mercy" to a lesser degree, on a solo trip to cancun. i was lying on a beautiful beach with soft white sand and a clear blue-green sea listening to "psychopath" and "severed crossed fingers," and slightly wondering if anyone else there was doing the same.

you never knew what you wanted, but you told me in no uncertain terms that if st. vincent asked you to run away with you, you'd absolutely do it and the two of you could be cold and unemotional together.
