epitome of incomprehensibility

Today_I_learned this term. Basically, it's strain on the kneecap (patella). "One of the most common causes of anterior [that is, front] knee pain," says https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK557657/. It's more common in women than men, maybe because our upper legs tend to be heavier in proportion to our lower legs. Something like that. According to the article, too, it's not always because the kneecap is out of place. Sometimes there's just too much stress on it. Sometimes there's too much stress on me! But it's good_news the doctor thinks I have this and not arthritis. She said she could order an x_ray to be absolutely sure, but she didn't see any swelling in my knees so the thing to do first is at-home physio (5 stretches to do every 2 days). And two symptoms in particular fit this: 1) pain after sitting for a long time with bent knees and 2) pain after high-impact walking (e.g., trying to run for the bus while carrying a lot of stuff or just putting my feet down hard with my legs at an angle for better balance (yay, icy Montreal)).
