mourning_doves
epitome of incomprehensibility To me, their usual "dloop, dloop" from the telephone wires sounds like low flute notes. Soothing, not mournful. But I guess the feeling depends on the listener's mood too - I've thought it melancholy, happy, or nostalgic depending on the day. 240410

raze i find it calming too.

there's a dove that visits me almost every day. i think he had a mate at one pointlast fall i heard the two of them singing together sometimesbut he seems to be back on the market. what's the phrase i read about doves? "seasonally monogamous".

i didn't know how much i missed the sound of their singing until i spent the winter without it and got it back once spring decided to start acting like itself.
