limited_edition
ovenbird The raspberries I bought say “limited edition” on the package. I can not even begin to understand what “limited edition” means in the context of raspberries. Are raspberries going extinct? Are these raspberries a rare variety that will never be grown again? Are they enhanced somehow? There is no further information on the label. They were grown in Mexico and packaged in California and that’s all I can glean.

My brother says, “If they’re limited edition I sure hope you kept them in the original packaging. You didn’t EAT one did you?!”

But, alas, I had already had a good handful with my yogurt and granola for breakfast. So there’s no chance of selling them later as a collectors item.

Is it just me, or is food marketing getting extremely weird?

Thumos I can't even remember the last time I bought plain fruit. My pocketbook too thin, worn frayed like all of my mind where the light leaks out.

Potatoes. Potatoes. Spinach. Onions. Onions. Onions. Onions. Onions. Potatoes. oh, tomato. Does tomato count? It's the most vegetable of fruits.

But each year, there's hood strawberries. "Limited edition" is about what I would call them. People pre-order in batches and you can't even buy a single bin. I get one or two berries a year from friends before they make jam. The fruit is exceptionally short-lived, and will turn to mush in a matter of days. I walk by the farmer's market stalls when I'm feeling under-stimulated. My hands itching to buy. My mouth itching to taste.

I go home and have some powdered lemonade instead.

I think about limited_edition_fruit.
