raze for a month i kept seeing this little piece of paper on my neighbour's front lawn.

it was about the size of a receipt you'd get from the bank. maybe a little wider. it kept moving around. it spent about a week near the curb. then it moved closer to the house. it stayed there for a while. then it was back where it started, more or less.

there were some windy days. there was rain. there was snow. but the paper never left her property, and it never looked wet or damaged. i couldn't understand how something so small and thin could stay intact for so long.

the other day i walked over there when she wasn't home. i turned the piece of paper over. i only ever saw its back. i wanted to see what was on the other side.

it was blank. there were small black dots that looked more like a faded pattern than dirt. that was it. no words. no numbers. nothing.

today the piece of paper is gone. either the wind finally took it away, or it was a note written in invisible ink that found its way to whoever was meant to have it.
