raze the man was the only person at the respect forum sitting by himself. a woman approached his table and smiled.

"look at you," she said. "you're all alone."

"not for long," he said. "i attract a lot of people with my personality."

she sat down and put her hand on his shoulder.

"i have a problem," she said. "i have a grandson who's an addict. he's a wonderful young man. he's spent six years in and out of recovery. he's working right now. his family is very compassionate. very supportive. but his brother is struggling with all the focus there's been on this one specific thing and the attention it's taken away from him. i think he's close to relapsing. i can see the signs. can i get involved here? or is this something i shouldn't stick my nose in? what do you think i should do?"

she looked ready to cry.

before the man could say anything, the emcee's voice tore through the uncomfortable silence.

"break's over. back to your assigned tables."

the next speaker stepped up to the podium. the woman walked away without an answer.
