Backstage_conversations from the March show. Technically, I was in the dressing room for this one. Anyway. Rachel is asking Bethan if she knows a good place to buy bras without underwire. I'm not usually the person who knows where to get things. But this time I have relevant experience. "Oh, oh, at Uniqlo, at Fairview. The bras I got there don't have wire and they fit well all around." Bethan, small and precise, "But do you know if they're good for larger sizes? Like..." she nods to Rachel. That I didn't consider. "I don't know," I admit. I grin. "I take the smallest size there." Rachel looks at both of us and laughs. "The itty bitty titty committee." For a moment, Bethan looks like she's going to say something but then decides not to, out of politeness. I can guess what: a motion to leave me as sole committee member. Probably she's a B cup to my A, and on her small stature that's perfectly medium. But I'm fine to be on committees that rhyme. More committees should.

I could definitely be on this committee, though I might be a bit of an outlier when it comes to bras, because my conclusion has been to just stop wearing them entirely. One day I was just like, "what the actual fuck. There are men with larger breasts than mine and no one is making them wear bras. Bras are uncomfortable and it's not like I have anything that needs holding up. I'm only doing this because society has told me that I have to but it's a double standard because men are allowed to have nipples and women, apparently, aren't. Or at least they're not allowed to be apparent." Anyway, after raging about it for awhile I decided I just didn't give a shit anymore and stopped wearing bras. I had to give up white t-shirts, but no other major sacrifices had to be made. I'm willing to give a report to the committee and put forward a motion that others be liberated as well.

I second this! Wear what makes you comfortable. Not just you, but everyone, regardless of boob size and non-size!! ...Mine are a bit annoying because they'll get sore if I jog or walk a lot when they're not well supported. ("Supported" - as if a bra or tank top needs to tell them, in a motherly voice, "I know I'm concentrating more on my feet than on you at the moment, but I still love you. Have a hug.") Other times it feels comfortable for me to wear a bra purely out of habit, but with some tops I'll ditch it (pajama-y things, dresses with built-in bodice).
