raze his second job cut his medical coverage, forcing him to pay for the bulk of his wife's cancer meds out of his own pocket. five grand a month. a week or two before he found that out, he spent ten thousand dollars on a trip the two of them were planning to take, though her immune system doesn't really exist anymore and anything she does outside of the house is a calculated risk. a vacation isn't in the budget now. he called the travel agency and told them what the situation was. he said he needed his money back. they reminded him there wasn't anything in the visible or fine print of the contract he signed that entitled him to a refund. the best they could do was apply what he'd paid them to another trip. but there's nowhere he wants to go. he might as well have set the cash on fire and watched it turn to ash in his hands. 230413
