sometimes when you've just bought pork chops you find yourself belting out a rendition of "you keep me hangin' on" (vanilla fudge vintage) in the parking lot for no real reason, and a grey-haired mack truck driver grins at you and rips open his button-up shirt to reveal the t-shirt beneath that says "ringo starr". as nods of a approval go, you could do a whole lot worse. rock and roll, brother man. rock and roll.

This made me smile. I used to listen to this song over and over again - got it on a CD compilation called "Psychedelic Pop: 12 Spaced-out 60's Classics" (with an appropriately cheesy - swirly, fluorescent - cover design). It was a somewhat random find, years ago, bought alongside Handel's Water Music. Hell, I have it here - not old Handel, not sure where he went, but the Psychedelic Pop one. It also has Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit, The Electric Prunes' I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night (I really like that one) and The Lemon Pipers' Green Tambourine. I guess the whole thing is a mix of lighter bubblegum pop and some trippier stuff, not that those don't converge at times. Anyway!
