Musing around, spending a night in one's thoughts Knowing full well The adventure begins in another month Life will resume, but it's a different life It's hard to say better, though It was nice to leave it two months ago But the relaxation is embodied in the change One thought runs through the head Mingling and pervading Your otherwise languid thoughts But it calms and sooths Like the rain drops pattering On the rooftop driving home from some Distant venue, alone.

he took the pill, a tiny little blue thing, before the time noted in the email but within the window provided in the longer pdf about the procedure. at first nothing changed. they talked, as if it was just another day, and then got into the car. she drove, unusual, as he sank into the passenger seat. out the window the city blurred. "i can see why they say not to drive after taking this." his voice was clear, but slow. "they don't want you to be nervous." "the instructions said it's a relaxant, and i am certainly comfortable." every syllable rolled out of his mouth. the doctors office was disguised. unusual. in the operating room, he lay back and stared up at the photograph of trees reaching into an infinite sky pasted to the ceiling. the pill and the photograph extending his mind as his body was modified. "there, all done" the doctor said. "ahead of schedule!" and with that he was back in the world, the sun bright against the snow, the blue sky reaching to infinity like the pills slow reach into his mind.
