I'm neither, a lot of the time, but I like to take on these traits now and then and see how they match my shoes.

I'm trying to learn math so that I can teach it to my grade 9 (possibly switching into grade 10 midway through the year) student. Trying to learn conceptually, the big-picture way. How things fit together. Looking at diagrams of rational and irrational numbers, the sets of different kinds of rational numbers (a rational number is any number that can be expressed as a fraction with two integers where the denominator is not zero - negative, positive, fraction, integer, etc. - and as decimals, they'll either be expressed finitely or as repeating infinite patterns.) I've uploaded a couple of already-there worksheets for tomorrow, and am going to bed so my mind can process more math before I finish the one I'm compiling for him myself. Math seems easier for me now than when I was in high school, but I can't learn it all at once. It's frustrating. I'm a bit sad that I can't (read: shouldn't) start tomorrow's class with the preface "In the aftermath of the tragic events of 0.81..." Fuck it, I'm nostalgic for all the wrong things from high school, all the wrong jokes... though I suppose that one wasn't as bad as the elementary school "orange juice concentration camp" thing. There's a kind of cynicism, perhaps, that decreases with age, as gravity weighs down.

"Oh, let's confuse black humour with cynicism. That makes sense."

...And let's put things in quotation marks for no reason! That'll be fun!

"For the blatherskite no reason? Why would she want random things in quotation marks?"

To demarcate names from phrases, perhaps? Yawn. The conversations I have with other humans make more sense.
