aftermath
raze after gravity has done its work, what falls down has to either bounce or break. i think we're going to bounce. the alternative is too painful to consider. we'll bounce, and we'll see some good things on our way back up there, until we fall down again. and maybe, over time, we'll learn to prolong our ascent.

if, on the other hand, i just shatter like an egg, i hope you'll make an omelette out of me.

e_o_i After + math, reminiscent of the second school I went to, where the joke on the token American was "in the aftermath of 0.818181"... aftermath, French class, the whole social apparatus... The novel I'm writing is loosely based on this part of my life, except transposed to Ohio, where the narrator is the token Canadian.

In short: Canadian kids are evil and I was never really smart enough to grasp anything beyond fractions.

e_o_i No, 9/11 wasn't as cute as all that, was it? ...I didn't mean to invoke this with today's not_quite_truism (divide and conquer, multiply and fill the earth, and then a pun on this word). In fact you can take it as anti-violence. (Not anti-reproduction; feel free to reproduce in moderation. The token surrealist has spoken.) 141122
