I misheard "honest" as "ominous" and stumbled upon this poem-image - not sorry for it! Almonds and ominous. Besides the sound congruence, is it arsenic that's supposed to smell like bitter almonds? Any murder mystery writers, poisoners etc., here? Amaretto tastes extremely sweet, from what I remember.

i don't even remember writing the bit at the top of this blathe! oh, blather. i can't comment on the scent of arsenic, but i can vouch for the sweetness of amaretto. i made the mistake once of telling it, "you will be my drink of choice for the night," and ordering doubles on the rocks. it was so smooth and sweet. it told me i would be fine. it told me all those maraschino cherries would sing me to sleep. the amaretto lied. in all the time i spent drinking, i only ever saw the room start spinning on me twice, and that was one of those times.

flint sky flickers. flash! sheets of rain smash the windshield. the blades can't keep up. agustus tower is gone, the ren cen too. the car slips in roadside inlets, and so i steer to center. beyond, the bridge's diamond necklace is the only beacon.
